Beware Union Power Grabs

This is just one of many union organizing tactics that we are seeing now. I use the term "organizing" loosely because this case involves simply taking money from home child care workers. You can read the full story at the link below, but here is the gist of the allegations:

Sherry and Dawn Loar are self-employed day care operators.  They are licensed by the State of Michigan to do business out of their homes.  They do not work for the State and, other than parents, have no other employer.  Despite this, the State of Michigan began deducting union dues from their payments.  Neither Loar nor Ives had joined a union, voted for a union or knew anything about the union to which they were now paying dues.  How does this happy?  Read the full story:

Several other unions are circulating cards asking for personal information under the guise of helping workers. This is a precursor to the card check provision in congress now.

Why should we care about all of this? It is our money going to these unions. Either in the form of higher taxes or higher fees, we will all be paying the union dues of these workers.
